The James Robertson Memorial Page

This is a picture of my uncle (James) in the passenger seat, and my dad (Dave) in a car that
they built.

He was a long term employee at General Motors Diesel Division, in London Ontario. Jim was an
avid drag race fan and participant. He and partner Wayne McKittrick, ran an A/ED (Econo
dragster) which actually won an eliminator at Niagara Falls Dragway, over well known
supercharged racer Jim Oddy. This was the highlight of his competitive career, although the car
was relativley competitive for local racing.

Jim also was skilled in metal work, woodwork, and stained glass work. The woodwork and metal
work interests were the result of support from his high school shop teacher, Barry Lang. His
mechanical aptitude from street rods and race cars allowed him the opportunity to work in the
engine assembly division of General Motors Diesel

Jim was a long term sufferer of multiple sclerosis, which eventually led to his untimely death.
Unfortunately the balance of Jim's last eight years were spent in convalescant care at the
Campbellford Hospital. It was difficult to see a formerly active person, unable to carry on day
to day functions or to follow any of his old hobbies or interests.
